John Egofske Named State Representative for 82nd District

Egofske’s focus on families, public safety, and economic development will benefit residents

Today, the 82nd Representative District Committee selected Lemont Mayor John Egofske as the new State Representative to fill the vacancy of Former House Republican Leader Jim Durkin.

“It is my honor to represent the 82nd District, using my experience as mayor and as a CPA to continue to focus on economic issues and the quality of life for residents,” Egofske said. “After 27 years in corporate business as a job creator, I look forward to working with anyone, from any party, who shares my goals to lower property taxes, address crime, and keep jobs in Illinois.”

As Mayor, John successfully reformed municipal finances in Lemont, which significantly reduced outstanding debt/liabilities, increased bond ratings, improved public pension funding, and developed and executed a robust business plan that continues delivering record economic development and growth for the community.

“John Egofske is a proven business leader and outstanding public servant,” said former State Representative Jim Durkin. “His success in the Village of Lemont prepared him to solve the problems facing our state.”

Egofske received his Bachelor of Arts in Accounting and Finance from Benedictine University, and is a registered Certified Public Accountant (CPA).

Egofske does not accept a salary as Lemont Mayor and will decline a state pension.  He will continue to serve as the Mayor of Lemont.

John Egofske successfully developed economic growth and business for 27 years at the corporate level and recently the last 6 years as Mayor. He served in multiple CFO executive positions, including Chief Financial Officer (CFO) of ATI Physical Therapy Inc. and owned and operated his own small business. Seven years ago, Egofske retired and ran for mayor in 2017. He and his wife, Louise, reside in Lemont with their daughter. The 82nd District contains parts of Cook, DuPage, and Will Counties.
